Our Revolution

There's no denying Our Revolution.

We saw it Monday night as thousands of Bernie Sanders supporters, many teary eyed, wouldn't stop cheering for him as he prepared to speak at the Democratic convention in Philadelphia.

Sanders' message resounded loud and clear. The richest of the rich, the one-tenth of one people percent, have been calling the shots long enough.

A Democratic presidential candidate who gave establishment favorite Hillary Clinton a run for her money, Sanders did it all through a grassroots movement funded by millions of contributions averaging just $27.

Announcing party platform wins on Wall Street regulation and breaking up big banks to name a couple, Sanders couldn't have drawn a more clear distinction between the Bernie movement to reclaim the country from the plutocrats -- and Republican candidate Donald Trump's illegitimate run for president, which only promises abuses as usual.

The absurd allegations during last week's Republican presidential convention about a Democratic elite rigging the system for its own benefit rang hollow and was almost laughable if it hadn't been so twisted and pathetic.

Republicans were actually accusing Democrats of the very crimes they have perpetuated against the American people over recent decades.

It's elist conservatism, of course, that has favored corporate welfare, through taxbreaks and loose financial regulation at the people's expense, which gave way to the 2008 Great Recession.

As Sanders said, something's wrong when the richest one-tenth of one percent owns as much wealth as the bottom 90 percent of Americans.

Something's wrong when 47 million men, women and children are living below the poverty rate.

As Sanders spoke at length eloquently and passionately before a lively, adoring crowd about the fight for social, economic and environmental justice, it was clear Our Revolution is just getting started.

Forget the Plagiarizing, It's The Message

What's really revealing about Donald Trump's wife Meliana plagiarizing Michelle Obama is not so much her borrowing the first lady's words.

Not to excuse it, but nothing is off limits for the Trump crowd.

What's interesting is that the Trumps' would cop the philosophy, sentiments, the words, of the very "enemy" they are bashing.

And of course, that just rings hypocritical and phony.

Smoke Screen?

Do you really need to see anything else?

Donald Trump emerging from his shadow in a magical mist on the first night of the Republican Convention should have told any reasonable minded American all they need to know about what "The Donald" thinks of himself -- and more importantly, who he'll put first as commander-in-chief.

Reality TV at its best.

Dynamic Duo or Odd Couple?

Talk about delusions of grandeur.

Leslie Stahl's 60 Minutes interview of Donald Trump and Mike Pence exposed the newly-minted Republican ticket as a political Odd Couple.

Oscar and Felix have nothing on these guys.

Trump did little more than talk about making America "safe" and "great" while ducking Stahl's direct questions about how he would accomplish this.

Trump also promoted himself and an agreeable Pence as the alleged tough "law and order" candidates, this just a day after picking Pence.

Yes, he is a Christian, Pence told Stahl. Then Trump awkwardly tried to claim the same.

Stahl exposed Trump's double standard. The Donald brushed off the fact that his new running mate Pence voted for the Iraq War, something Trump has harshly and repeatedly criticized Clinton for.

Trump also appeared to back off his call for a ban on Muslims entering the country, and had Pence trying to explain it away, ineffectively.

In all, Trump and Pence didn't appear nearly ready to lead this country.

Trump Feeding Violence?

Right about now seems like a good time to seriously consider the extent to which presumed Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is directly, or indirectly, promoting the panic and deadly violence that has plagued this country and parts of the world in recent weeks.

Before dismissing this notion as simply silly, the fact is that a demagogue endorsed by a major political party for president of the United States, has a way of inspiring and feeding on such chaos.

Isn't it about time the American people consider that this country's most dangerous home-bred terrorist is Trump himself?

We Need Honesty To Overcome Hatred

Until American are honest with themselves about their racial prejudices, until they admit that there in fact is a societal problem such as racial discrimination, little will change.

If we want to end the injustice we need to take a sober look at ourselves. We need to embrace the truth. We need to recognize that yes, there is are lingering racial tensions.
Then we need to explore why and work peacefully toward reconciliation. Perfect love casts out fear.

Repubs Look Desperate Grilling Comey

True to form Republicans are making a mountain out of  a mole hill, trying to peg Hillary Clinton as some sort of double agent, wasting taxpayers funds on a witch hunt, forever pursuing, displaying a double standard.
